About the Author:
 

A.N. Agrawal, educated at Allahabad, served as a senior lecturer at Ramjas College, University of Delhi. He is a well-known author of several books which have been well received both within the country and abroad. The London Economist profusely praised his ‘Indian Agriculture and its Problems’, while the ‘Problems of Cooperative Farming in India’ (co-authored with Prof. A.M. Khusro) won him the Government of India Award.

M K Agarwal has been working in the Department of Economics, University of Lucknow since 1993 where he was appointed lecturer and later he became professor. Before that he completed his MA from the same Department where he completed PhD and was awarded the University Grants Commission’s Junior/Senior Research Fellowship. Dr. Agarwal is a keen researcher and teacher. He has authored several books and published research papers in national and international journals. He has visited around twelve countries for academic purposes. Among others, Dr. Agarwal has been awarded Commonwealth Academic Fellowship 2005 in UK and he worked at the University of East Anglia. He worked as Visiting Professor at the Department of Economics, University of Colombo during 2010–11. His latest book is on Issues in India Sri Lanka Economies and is an edited volume where prominent scholars from both the countries are the contributors. Recently he has also come up with an edited book Public Health and Development in India. His area of interest has been among others the Indian economy and the economy of Uttar Pradesh.
