Alapati Suryanarayana, before his retirement served as a Professor and Head, Department of Chemical Engineering, Regional Engineering College, Rourkela. He obtained his B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from Andhra University, M.S. in Chemical Engineering from University of Iowa, U.S.A., and Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from Sambalpur University. He received the Gangaram Gold Medal (Institute of Engineers) in 1983. He is a Life Member of Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers, Institute of Engineers (India) and Indian Society of Technical Education.
