About Wilfred Funk
Wilfred John Funk was a well-known American poet, writer, lexicographer, and publisher.
He has authored many books including,?Word Origins and Their Romantic Stories, 30 Days to a More Powerful Vocabulary, 25 Magic Steps to Word Power,?and?When the Merry-Go-Round Breaks Down.
Born on 20th March 1883, Funk graduated from Princeton University, and joined his family firm, Funk & Wagnalls, and was the President. Later, he founded his own publishing firm, Wilfred Funk, Inc. Many of his poems were published in the?New York Evening Sun. He created the popular feature ?It Pays to Increase Your Word Power?, for?Reader’s Digest?magazine, and received an honorary Doctor of Letters degree from Oglethorpe University, in 1932.
